ForUm Expert Seminars, Conferences and Summer Schools

ForUm – “Forum for Urban Futures” – an international network of urban experts under the supervision of the Department of Geography, University of Cologne, Germany – is organising a series of international Summer Schools and seminars with financial support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Two events per year are taking place in different Southeast Asian countries, whereas every conference is organised in close cooperation with the local Asian network partners.

The program focuses on an active contribution to the North-South-South dialogue in the field of worldwide urbanisation and provides a forum for exchange on concepts, research and application of Southeast Asian and German universities, institutions, private sector, civil society’s groups, including local NGOs and non-university partners.

More than 20 international experts from seven Southeast Asian countries and Germany are sharing their experiences and expertise and discuss challenges and conflicts in the field of urban development. Scientific presentations and discussions as well as city excursions and visits of international organisations and project sites complete the program.
